Earlier this year, we were excited to launch our new collections which are made in the UK.
We are now pleased to announce that we have strengthened our commitment to manufacturing in the UK and joined the Made in Britain campaign.
Made in Britain is a movement designed to bring together the manufacturing community in the UK with a registered collective mark. The Made in Britain mark is protected and can only be used by members of the organisation.
It is designed to show customers and retailers which companies are British manufacturers so they can support products which are made in the UK. There is growing awareness among consumers of the importance of buying local and recent issues with international freight caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit mean people are increasingly trying to avoid buying products which need to be imported from abroad.
The decision to join Made in Britain comes hot on the heels of our purchase of British upholstery manufacturer Furnico Furniture Ltd. The acquisition of Furnico (to be called La-Z-Boy UK Manufacturing) means the La-Z-Boy brand now has manufacturing capability in the United Kingdom and we can expand the number of collections we make in the UK.
Trevor Hailes, La-Z-Boy’s international merchandising director, said the company recognised there was a growing appetite for buying British as well as a practical need to be able to better control supply for buyers.
He said: “As a brand we are always looking for ways to improve and adapt. We are excited about joining the Made in Britain campaign and expanding the number of collections we manufacture here in the UK.”
These moves will support the local economy and provide more lower lead time products (versus Asia manufacture) for retailers and end-customers on these in-demand models. It will also give La-Z-Boy UK even more control over our designs to ensure they are always staying ahead of the trends whilst giving the consumers the quality and comfort to stand the test of time.
